The standard trimmer head has two blade guides (9-12mm and 3-6mm) and the narrow trimmer head has one (2mm). These blade guides can be attached to the trimmer heads allowing you to keep the desired hair length while trimming.
Shaving cream can be used while trimming but should be rinsed off thoroughly to protect the long term performance of the trimmer.
